Quartzite Durability

It’s important to share just how durable quartzite is. While many people still practice using hot pads and trivets on its surface, this is for peace of mind only. This stone, since it’s formed under such high heat and pressure, is very heat resistant. It is very unlikely that quartzite will ever scorch.

Even though quartzite is known for its durability, a huge part of making it last is protecting that durability when you can. So, just because quartzite is scratch-resistant doesn’t mean that you should forego the use of a cutting board when chopping vegetables!

If, on the off-chance, a chip should occur, you can fix it by gluing it back in place.

Quartzite – Where to Put It?

We’ve sung the praises of quartzite countertops in your indoor kitchen, but what’s great is that they look just as amazing and last just as long outside. Since they are heat resistant and don’t mind the elements, you can use them to tie your backyard lounge area together.

How to Care for Quartzite

Since quartzite has the maintenance level of granite, that means it doesn’t require much in the way of upkeep. At the end of each day, to keep your countertops shining, all you have to do is wipe it down with soap, water, and a gentle cloth.

Quartzite is a porous stone, which means that it will need a coat of sealant (and to be resealed regularly) in order to remain impervious to liquid damage.

You should clean up spills right away even on a sealed slab of quartzite to reduce the risk of staining. And always use a coaster to prevent rings of condensation.
