Bathroom Countertops

We Believe in Creating Beautiful Kitchens

When most people think of a remodel, they typically think of the kitchen first. That tends to be where many of our customers place their focus, but at Stone Concepts, Inc. we know that the bathroom is just as important as the kitchen.

Replacing your bathroom countertops is a big deal whether you’re doing a full-scale remodel or not. These surfaces determine the entire feel of the room and can make or break the aesthetic value of your space. Because of this, if you’re remodeling your entire bathroom, we recommend you start with the countertops and go from there.

Choosing the type of countertop for your bathroom—whether it’s a vanity countertop or for your sink—is a big decision. In this article, we compiled three of the best materials to use for bathroom countertops—granite, marble, and quartz.

Granite

Granite is one of the most widely loved materials that we offer, and there are tons of reasons why it’s so popular. Having this type of countertop in your bathroom can automatically increase the resale value of your home, first of all, because buyers across the nation are looking for natural stone materials in their new homes.

Not only that, but granite is one of the most durable countertop materials available. This makes it an especially great choice for busy families who don’t have time to be cautious around their countertops while they’re getting ready in the morning.

Granite isn’t sensitive to heat or liquid, so if you set a hot styling tool down on its surface, it won’t suffer damage in the way that many other materials might. We don’t recommend making a habit of this, but once or twice shouldn’t hurt.

As long as you properly seal your granite countertop, it should last for a very long time. This sealant also makes it especially resistant to germs and bacteria, which is always a great asset for the bathroom.

Marble

At Stone Concepts, Inc., we offer some of the best marble slabs that you can find. This is a sophisticated stone that looks great in any modern bathroom, and it offers a crisp and clean aesthetic. But while marble is beautiful, it should be handled with care.

But while marble is more fragile than granite, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s easily breakable. Much like granite, if you maintain a good resealing routine with marble, it’s likely to keep its beautiful looks for generations. Another thing to note about marble is the fact that spills should be cleaned up as soon as they occur because this stone is more susceptible to stains than others.

Marble is the type of material that takes advantage of any natural light in a room, which can make even the smallest bathroom seem spacious.

Quartz

Unlike granite and marble, quartz is not a natural stone. It qualifies as an engineered stone because of the polymers and resins included in its composition, and these are actually the additives that make it a nonporous stone. Because it’s nonporous, you never have to worry about sealing.

Quartz’s nonporous nature makes it a great option for bathrooms because it’s not only impervious to germs and bacteria, but it also holds strong against liquid damage. You do have to be careful with hot items around quartz because the resins in its makeup do not hold up against heat like natural stone materials do.

Much like natural stone, quartz can also raise the resale value of your home. People love it for its predictable patterns and uniformity.
