Countertop Options: Our Variety

We Believe in Creating Beautiful Kitchens

There are so many reasons to love stone countertops—whether you gravitate toward natural stone or engineered stone. At Stone Concepts, Inc., we offer both types.

At Stone Concepts, Inc., we are experts on all things related to stone countertops, and we would love to help you figure out which material is right for you.

Here are the countertop options we offer:

Soapstone

Soapstone is very easy to take care of. Since it’s a nonporous material, you don’t ever have to worry about sealing it—a detail that many customers love. Even without sealant, it’s very liquid-resistant and holds its own against stains, chemicals, acids, and heat.

Soapstone is also very easy to clean. All you need is soap and water to keep this stone as beautiful as the day you had it installed.

This material is one of the softer natural stones; its surface is likened to the texture of soap. Because of this, it’s important to always use a cutting board instead of chopping right on the surface of your countertop in order to avoid scratches.

Every slab of soapstone is unique, and the colors may vary from light green to steel gray.

Granite

Granite is another natural stone that’s very easy to maintain. Once again, you only need soap and water to clean it. But unlike soapstone, it does need a coat of sealant to hold strong against liquids and stains, since it’s a porous stone.

This stone comes in hundreds of color variations, ranging from red to white to black and almost anything in between.

This stone is incredibly heat resistant because it’s created under intense heat and pressure inside the earth. If you set a hot pan on it, it’s not likely to scorch, but there’s nothing wrong with playing it safe with a hot pad.

Marble

Marble is a choice that’s more delicate than granite or soapstone. It’s known for being fancy and sophisticated, and it needs a gentle hand to take care of it. If you don’t mind a little extra maintenance, marble could be a great option for you.

People love marble for its unique markings and designs. It has a knack for brightening any room because of how it takes advantage of natural light and gleams under the sun.

There are two finishes that you can choose from: honed and polished. Honed is a bit easier to care for, but both are beautiful countertop options.

Like granite, marble also needs a coat of sealant and regular resealing.

Quartz

Quartz is the engineered stone that we offer. Its base is made of natural quartz, but because of the small percentage of polymers and resins added, it is classified as an engineered stone. These polymers and resins make it so you never have to worry about sealing your quartz, but be warned that the resins don’t do well under direct sunlight. Quartz countertops should always be installed indoors.

This material is very easy to maintain, but it doesn’t have as much heat resistance as our natural stones do—once again, thanks to the resins. But a major advantage to this material is that it’s known for being flexible, which makes it less likely to crack.

Quartz comes in uniform, predictable patterns that make for a seamless look in the kitchen.
