Countertop Edges

We Believe in Creating Beautiful Kitchens

Countertop edges may seem like a small, inconsequential detail on a much larger project. But while the edges might be small, they are far from inconsequential. The edge of your countertop completes the look and creates the final note for the aesthetic of the entire room.

There are plenty of countertop edge profiles to choose from, and our team here at Stone Concepts, Inc. are happy to guide you through the process. In this article, get familiar with our most popular edge styles to get an idea of what might work for you.

For Your Consideration

When you’re deciding the edge profile for your countertop, there are a few things that you should keep in mind. These details include

-the size of your kitchen
-your preferred aesthetics
-your countertop material
-your kitchen style
-your price range.

Types of Countertop Edges

When it comes to edge profiles, we have five that win the popularity contest and go well with many types of countertops:

  • Eased/Flat-Polished Edge

If you’re looking for an edge that’s on the square side, the eased/flat-polished edge is a great choice because it’s almost square—but not quite. This edge has the slightest bit of a rounded edge, but the overall profile is known for its straight lines. It’s a simple, modern, and classy design that pairs well with countertops in bold patterns. This edge profile complements granite countertops because granite is known for its eye-catching looks.

  • Bullnose Edge

A bullnose edge has a rounded look with an even curve along the bottom. It is a soft, eased edge that looks good in almost any style of kitchen. These types of edges are great for young families because they’re easy to clean and they won’t injure children should they bump their heads on them.

  • Half-Bullnose Edge

The half-bullnose edge is composed of a slope along the top and a flat edge along the bottom. Like the full bullnose, it coincides with any style of countertop and is known for its ease of maintenance. People love to cook on countertops with this edge because it’s so easy to clean.

  • Ogee Edge

The ogee edge creates an S shape with two gentle curves. The ogee edge can also be hardened for a more dramatic look that adds depth to the countertop and cabinets. You’ll often see ogee edges paired with granite and quartz countertops because of their luxurious look.

  • Cove Edge

If you’re looking for something similar to ogee but just a bit sharper, check out the cove edge. The cove edge has a rounded indent that creates a grooved effect, and they’re a bit less formal than the ogee edge. They take up the same amount of space but involve a bit more maintenance because the grooves can catch debris now and then.
